This is the first time I'm reviewing an album on this site, and I thought it appropriate to start with this project born from an idea by Trent Gardner (Magellan).
The album excellently succeeds in capturing the life of the great Leonardo Da Vinci by narrating some phases of his life.
To accomplish this, Gardner collaborated with great musicians of the caliber of James LaBrie (Dream Theater) as Leonardo, Steve Walsh (Kansas), Josh Pincus (Ice Age), and many others, making this album an absolute masterpiece.
The album consists of 18 tracks, some of which are instrumental, yet the album flows as smoothly as oil.
I would emphasize the arrangement of the vocal parts, truly elaborated in an excellent way, without excessive vocalizations, but powerful, simple, and direct (LaBrie truly gives his best).
The instrumental parts are simply perfect, especially because they manage to keep the listener's attention throughout the album without ever becoming boring. A clear example can be found in track 8, which within a snippet of about a minute contains a fantastic melody, or in track 10, simply beautiful.
The structure of the album itself is also beautiful, starting in a calm way, then gradually building up.
In conclusion, I consider this concept album a record that every prog lover should own, a truly well-executed product, a concentration of music with a capital M.
