Bruce Springsteen has had a special relationship with Italy, starting with that historic concert at San Siro on June 21, 1985.

There were 65,000 people, Bruce's first concert in Italy and, according to the Boss, one of the best ever. Many artists have also paid tribute to the heroic deeds of the fearless and unblemished rocker, bard of the losers and the working class, all muscles and emotion.

Thus, Ermanno Labianca, a prominent journalist and television scriptwriter as well as a connoisseur of Springsteen and the captivating American music scene (aptly represented in the book “Like a rolling stone - 40 years of American singer-songwriters”) fifteen years ago gathered some of the Italian artists most inspired by the Boss’s music for "For You 2", a tribute album featuring Luca Barbarossa, Rossana Casale, Marco Conidi, Flor, Chicken Mambo, Circo Fantasma.

Now, fifteen years later, other old and new artists are reviving Springsteen with never predictable interpretations. "Four You 2," a double album, released by Route 61 music, presents unreleased tracks like “The train song” and “Guilty (the judge song)” which hark back to Still Mill, a band where an unheard-of long-haired Springsteen was cutting his teeth in the world of rock. It also reassesses singer-songwriters from our peninsula who have not yet received due attention, such as Riccardo Maffoni with a compelling interpretation of “It’s hard to be a saint in the city”, Andrea Parodi who duets with none other than JTVan Zandt in a desolate “Racing in the street”. Collaborations continue with Lorenzo Bertocchini and Elizabeth Lee in “Be True” - outtakes from "The River" - and Daniele Tenca, Marino Severini, and Cesare Basile who skillfully and sensitively mold “Eyes on the Prize”.

Lastly, we want to remember, among others, Massimiliano LaRocca, Cheap Wine, Lowlands, Miami and the Groovers with interpretations here revealed to be devoted and attentive, all deeply indebted to the Boss as the central element of the best spirit present in American popular music of yesterday and today.
