The name of the owner of this album, which I randomly found in a used CD store, was completely unknown to me, yet listening to his music turned out to be a pleasant discovery.

Javier Vargas, little-known Spanish guitarist, characterized by a look complete with a Texan hat and goatee that resembles that of Stevie Ray Vaughan, proves to be an effective guitar player, an expressive singer with moderately husky tones, and a commendable composer (eleven out of twelve tracks bear his signature).

The sound texture of this "Feedback" (sixth work in his discography) is a seasoned rock blues, enhanced with suitable doses of soul and R & B, fundamentally inspired by Anglo-American models (Robert Cray, Eric Clapton, or the recent Gary Moore) yet strongly infused with the Latin aromas of his land. I would say that the title of one of his 1994 tracks, "Blues Latino" (also recorded by Carlos Santana on the "Santana Brothers" album), fully defines his style. All tracks are of good quality, but the pinnacle is reached with the splendid cover of "Whole Lotta Love" of Zeppelin lineage: the Madrileño disrupts the original atmosphere with an energetic funky line while maintaining the essence of the glorious rock song intact. Another notable track is "Spanish Fly", an intense instrumental slow ballad full of Spanish 'sangre.'

Ultimately, a genuine artist, certainly not a technical monster to be elected a guitar hero, but an 'authentic' musician who manages to blend, with taste, freshness, and the right 'feeling,' Latin and American culture. A true 'Latino bluesman.'
