THE REVIEW

Now I'll be criticized for noticing the absence of this record in the database, but that doesn't make up for the absence itself; I believe it should be reviewed, especially since the album deserves recognition for going beyond the C major chord progression proposed by other pop performers. Of course, it may seem strange when referring to a singer barely over the age of majority, and here I fully agree, as artistically she might have had deficiencies, had she not been assisted, as in this album, by Hollywood Records, belonging to Disney, which, besides improbable sarcastic remarks, could remind one of wildly famous musical successes.

The album is romantic and sentimental, yet also lively and melodic, with varied sampling. The rhythm starts in classic pop style (close to the inventor of all this, Michael Jackson), with Vanessa's pristine voice followed by choruses, rhythm slowdowns, and whatever else pop requires.

The second track, equally lively, leaves no room for criticism anymore. Vanessa transitions from whispers to melodic rhymes, from choruses to swing, whose lively melody allows for no lyrics other than those proposed. 'Say ok', features keyboard sounds similar to a music box and knuckles, while the melody and lyrics perhaps mark the peak of romantic (or sappy), the vocal tones are slow, fitting to define the affections of feelings.

'Never underestimate a girl' has a flute intro, followed by the base and the voice, along with a lively melody, especially in the chorus. 'Let's dance' has a more syncopated rhythm, low and filtered vocal lines, repeating the chorus 'i've got to keep it together' interspersed with choruses and reverberated basses. The 7, 'Afraid' features the singer's conversational tone, which softens in the lively chorus. Following the slow 'Afraid' again with background vocals; 'Promise' which draws on Aaliyah's style. 'Whatever will be' introduces the piano, head voice and as one might guess, talks about the future and destiny. I overlook the other tracks because the album starts to become repetitive, except for 'psychic' where the voice is truly whispered and engaging.

In summary, this 'V' is certainly not innovative, far be it from me to pass it off as such, however, Vanessa Hudgens, aside from some last-page scandals that nonetheless did not invalidate the contract (evidently, the House preferred to bury their heads in the sand rather than perhaps give up the next very lucrative sequel to High School), could do better, especially by putting into practice what she must have learned from all the productions she participated in.
