Rating: Vagina Dentata Organ is a project of a Spanish one-man band named Jordi Valls, who owes much of his success to being part of the Psychic TV Genesis P-Orridge scene. The very name of the project suggests something extremely radical and definitive, the vagina no longer as an object of pleasure, but rather something distressing and painful, much like the music (so to speak) within its highly limited edition records.
The first work of VDO is the historic Music For Hashashins, based solely on dog growls, which poor Jordi would perform in post-Franco Spain in 1981 on the television show "L'edad de l'oro". On that occasion, he would slash canvases by a famous local painter with a scimitar and set Dobermans on the audience. Needless to say, the show was canceled the day after...
Thus Jordi moved to London and continued to release his absurd LPs, of which I believe the purely provocative and collectible purpose is noteworthy.
The LP in question dates back to 1986. On one side there's Marilyn Monroe from the dead, on the other Elvis's body. For VDO it is natural to connect love to death, and in the grooves we find only female orgasms, this time electronically manipulated to sound distressing.
There is nothing more to say except that the other records, which I haven't found, are equally absurd, if they can be defined as music, they are industrial to the nth degree, a growl of industrial rage, as the madman Genesis P-Orridge would surely claim.
Besides, in an interview Jordi Valls himself described those who claimed to appreciate his music as "filthy stupid", and this alone says a lot about the music he produced and his provocations.
I repeat, only the collectible aspect of having totally insane and perhaps even useless records remains.
