UNKLE is a British music project led by James Lavelle, known for blending trip-hop, electronic and rock and for frequent collaborations with guest vocalists and musicians.

Originally formed by James Lavelle with DJ Shadow as an early member (on Psyence Fiction); Richard File later became a core collaborator. Reviews note extensive guest contributions (for example Josh Homme, Ian Astbury, 3D, Mark Lanegan, Liela Moss) and a stylistic shift toward rock on some releases.

DeBaser reviews praise UNKLE's adventurous blend of trip-hop, electronic and rock. Psyence Fiction and War Stories receive strong acclaim for production and guest turns. Never, Never, Land is noted for its spacey electro-rock textures. Night's Temper EP is described as "damn dirty and warm." The Road Pt. 1 is seen as weaker and less inspired.

For:Fans of trip-hop, electronic and experimental rock; listeners who like collaborative albums and guest vocalists.

Nights Temper is, in short, damn dirty and warm.

Recommended for those who like everything and are not disgusted by anything, not recommended for those who want just one thing from an album, in short, not recommended for punk & brutal & whine addicts (guys change genre), here there’s a bit of everything, choose what you like, and then go out because this damn breakfast will make you late for work, and try telling your boss “No look, a mess happened because Valfrutta harassed me with the Ashcroft model of the PozziFriend,” and see how long they’ll still be your boss, you ugly nerd, shut up and work, and save 15€ for this cd!

Interesting, complicated album, filled with details. Sumptuous electro-nu-prog-rock, absolutely to be listened to with headphones. Highly recommended for those who love music in its cosmic alterations.

Great result then for UNKLE, who with some changes (besides the sounds, producer and record label have changed) have managed to create a real masterpiece, which insinuates itself in the heart and releases the strongest emotions, without ever falling into repetitiveness. An album that I strongly recommend to everyone to listen to. You won’t regret it.

Not very inspired, well-crafted in the arrangements but without managing to make an impact or arouse particular interest, full of essentially soul tracks to which a splash of electronics is not enough to make them significant in any way.
