THE REVIEW

"La dieta dell'imperatrice" is the new album by the artist formerly known as Moltheni, and Pineda; I was honestly curious to see the return of the musician from the Marche region as a "soloist," since the vinyl "Pineda" already hinted that his farewell to the "moltheni" project could be a see-you-later in another guise.

My approach to Moltheni's albums has always been cautious; I rarely get carried away with easy enthusiasm, especially when it comes to current music (produced nowadays), especially if of Italian origin; and I have almost never been disappointed by listening to his works.

It can be said that "La dieta dell'imperatrice" maintains this tendency, escaping the fear of encountering an exact copy of his old albums (which, to be honest, weren't repetitive themselves), I found a Giardini in which the style of the former project is certainly recognizable but also demonstrates a sincere desire to play and express more. The themes are the usual: difficult loves (including the one with the record industry), and the melancholic aspects of life that take precedence over the joyful ones.

The album opens with the title track or rather "L'imperatrice," an instrumental gem, just hinted at, almost wanting to immediately clarify the difficulty of fully enjoying things; the experience I could define as more exquisitely rock? (I don't really like labels) with the Pineda becomes evident in pieces like "Il desiderio preso per la coda" and "Il sentimento del tempo." I would also highlight "Discographia," a typically "Molthenian" track. Umberto Maria Giardini essentially returns with a very "played" work, leaving aside (but not completely) the folk sounds of the previous two records, offering a more electric and slightly more energetic sound.

Record label: "La tempesta/Venus"

Production: Antonio Cooper Copertino.
