THE REVIEW

"Pornokult" by the Roman band Ultimo Mondo Cannibale is the album I've been listening to nonstop for 3 weeks.

Fun, crass, perverse, and carefree are the adjectives that best describe this great little disc. But in their Porno-Goregrind with a joking spirit, the UMC manage to accomplish something in a challenging aspect of this musical genre: the songs, in fact, lacking a particularly complex structure, are very catchy and already after a first listen remain stuck in the mind.

The album is a concentrate of Pitchshiftered-Vocals and sick screams combined with a good distorted bass and a hardcore-style guitar that follow the rhythms tupa-tupa-tupa purely punk/thrash/hc from the drums. The title track placed at the opening is devastating, as is the short but filthy "Bananal" (great title! haha) and "El Masturbador", loaded and rotten to the right point! The intro is hilarious (taken from "Le Notti Erotiche Dei Morti Viventi" by zombie Joe D'Amato) of "666 Cocks Into Your Pussy", a very groovy song and mosh-friendly. "Padre Pio Was A Necropedophile", also with a really amusing intro taken from "L'eretica" by De Ossorio, is an acidic fury of wickedness, perversion, and Thrash rhythms.

There are also several covers, two from the monsters IMPETIGO (Boneyard and Dis-Organ-Ized) and one from GUT (Anal Sushi). Ultimo Mondo Cannibale is a significant presence in the Italian underground, so I highly recommend this awesome album to all goregrind enthusiasts; they'll find food (or shit?) for their teeth!
