LA RECENSIONE

Simple psychedelia, a lot of humility, a lot of courage, and a lot of talent. These are Ulan Bator. But let's get to the album right away...

"Végétale" is a simple album, a guitar, a bass, and a drum with the occasional addition of a thread of a voice, it perfectly encapsulates the concept of "few things but done well," and I would even add few things, done well, and especially without a precise logic, and now that's enough, writing seriously is not for me, it's useless, I try but I can't, so...

The dance opens with "Lumiere Blanche / Schneetum", mmh I don't like to use this term, but I have to say that this song is an important hit (there it is), post-rock-wise speaking, there is everything, the clean sound, the effected sound, a mocking voice, a slow bass that makes you nod your head like a fool, a drum dictating a simple offbeat to follow, and a pause just to catch your breath. It is followed by "Cephalopode", a very strange piece, capable of causing an instant headache with extreme musical elegance... On "Pekisch Organ" I am unable to tell you anything, I myself still haven't understood it, it's strange, it changes atmosphere every two minutes, it's the song that most deviates from the classic composition schemes. "Fèvre Hectique" represents the exception of humility I mentioned earlier, for six minutes they are bold and buffoons, and there's nothing better than listening to a sudden delirium. "Hart" acts as a valium, it calms you down, it puts your senses back in place, but it prepares you for the arrival of "Fuite", a mono-note bass melody that's never trivial, accompanied by a drum that's also simple and a guitar that is equally so, three simple things make it genius, right? Well, if all this isn't enough for you, the hypno-finale will satisfy your needs as post-rock stoners. "Embarquement" is the cherry waiting for you at the end, provided you manage to eat the whole cake first... I admit it's hard to get there, but it's worth it...

Post-Rock de la France, avec une pincée de l'Italie, tout pour vous.
