Rhetoric for its own sake is the hidden evil of our days.

Rhetoric does not kill: it captures a moment, rendering it useless. Childish, predictable.

The pacifism of three major chords, let's hug and love each other, let's take to the streets, peace, love, and pass me the joint, friend.

Music, over time, the muse, has been defaced, disfigured, humiliated, mocked, even with impudence.

Who is for war? Who is for hate? Who, if they love someone or something, would wish not to love it? Come on.

The relentless search is elsewhere. Here there is no search. Here there's an afternoon at the youth center, launching helium-filled balloons for peace, and that's fine, of course, then we hold hands, the little ones go home to indulge in abundance, the parents curse because it's raining, the priest stops by the deli since it's lunchtime, should we get two ounces of mortadella, father?

And music, of course, is peace and love and introspection and many other things that will never jostle to go down in history.

One love, one life, one blood, brothers and sisters, we're just missing Jovanotti with 'Mi fido di te,' so to speak, or Ricchi e Poveri with one of their random songs.

Words and music (actually: let's stick to words, eh, I'm distancing myself, damn it) by Abraham, second grade, who in first grade was dopey, of any one theme with a blessed background. Come on.

A point of no return was reached, in the year of (dis)grace 1991, nothing to laugh about. That many believe it, they live it, One here One there.

Long live peace, always, make love, or have sex, if there's really no love. As those others from the a cappella group, Neri Per Caso, sang, if there's no emotion it's fine too, and try telling that to Bono Vox.

Tracklist Lyrics and Samples

01   One (04:35)

Is it getting better?
Or do you feel the same?
Will it make it easier on you, now
You got someone to blame
You say one love, one life
When it's one need, in the night
One love, we get to share it
It leaves you, baby, if you don't care for it

Did I disappoint you?
Or leave a bad taste in your mouth?
You act like you never had love
And you want me to go without
Well, it's too late, tonight
To drag the past out into the light
We're one, but we're not the same
We get to carry each other, carry each other
One...

Have you come here for forgiveness
Have you come to raise the dead
Have you come here to play Jesus
To the lepers in your head
Did I ask too much, more than a lot
You gave me nothing, now it's all I got
We're one, but we're not the same
Well, we hurt each other
Then we do it again.

You say love is a temple, love a higher law
Love is a temple, love the higher law
You ask me to enter, but then you make me crawl
And I can't be holding on, to what you got
When all you got is hurt

One love, one blood
One life, you got to do what you should
One life with each other: sisters, brothers
One life, but we're not the same
We get to carry each other, carry each other.
One (lone)
One...

Make in it, make in it, higher...
