Riding the wave of successes like "Tradimento" by Fabri Fibra and "Solo un uomo" by Mondo Marcio from the previous year, in 2007 the so-called major labels decided to sign several Italian rappers and hip-hop groups, keeping afterward only those who actually achieved considerable levels of sales. The Two Fingerz are among the many artists discarded from this selection, which for them occurred with this record, "Figli del caos," released under Sony.
The Two Fingerz are Danti (vocals) and Roofio (DJ and co-producer), and before this work, they had released a demo LP, "Downtown" (2006). From this record, they are accompanied by the presence of Dargen D'Amico, a great friend of both and a rapper known for being a member of Sacre Scuole, composed of him and 2/3 of the current Club Dogo (Guè Pequeno and Jake La Furia), and for having released "Musica senza musicisti," his only solo work in those years, a decidedly atypical album in Italian rap. Most of the tracks of "Figli del caos" are produced by Big Fish, one of the most renowned Italian hip-hop producers: he was part of Sottotono along with Tormento, and had been producing artists like Fabri Fibra, Mondo Marcio, and Esa for a few years.
"Figli del caos" is thus a decisive attempt to establish themselves in the local hip-hop scene, and to do so, Two Fingerz bring out their most debatable album, the one with the least peculiarities for sure, the least theirs. They later will indeed claim to have attempted this leap too soon when they were not yet mature enough to release on such a wide scale.
The beats, produced by Big Fish and some by Roofio, are fairly canonical, of quality but not distinctive enough. The lyrics have the same character, except that we still see an improved flow from Danti compared to the previous year.

The beginning of the album is a blatant combination of an intro to memorize and recite in front of the mirror for self-motivation every morning, the title track "Figli del caos," a big promotional single to bump in the car, and the self-celebratory "Troppo forte," which still holds some good rhymes (
to consider a friend part of the family I don't need DICO). The track "Inizia la follia" is, like "Ognuno per sé" (track 10), actually already present on the previous "Downtown" of 2006, and
both are just "updated" with new beats. "Inizia la follia" offers an interesting look at the world through the eyes and brain, slightly schizophrenic in this piece, of Danti; it quite recalls the early Eminem and Fibra's "Mr. simpatia." In "Cose che non puoi," we finally see that shady character who is Dargen D'Amico appear, and we understand how much better Danti adapts to slower and more reflective tracks: verses like
love can be the worst investment, because you only realize it when it dies or his entire second verse captivate from the first listen. "Sulle spalle dei giganti" is the third single extracted, doesn't leave much except the title. "TVB no TV" is another slow one, a beautiful love poem with a terrible title. One of the tracks I prefer is undoubtedly "Cavi e problemi," where Danti tells us he analyzes all his relationships like cables, from which problems can arise;
two really dense verses, without abandoning a maybe slightly static but very clear and precise flow. The only "worthy" single is "Certe cose," but just for the irony it contains. "Ognuno per sé," already contained on the previous "Downtown," is a nice slow dedicated to one's better half, feeling like life is in color immersed in a gray world. "Di cash" is the other really deserving piece of "Figli del caos": the importance of the god Money, exaggerated by Danti and ridiculed by Dargen, without being able to actually blame either of them. "Così chiara" is a strictly intimate piece, dedicated to Danti's best friend, Davide, about the death of his sister: a very heartfelt and touching text, much appreciated by Two Fingerz fans. "Io non ho" is a cover of "La prima risposta" by Dargen D'Amico, a sort of tribute to the friend/collaborator. To close the album, a remix of the title track and
an unreleased old track embellished by the participation of the usual Dargen, "Two Fingerz lessico": two verses for Danti and one for JD with irresistible rhymes like
AAA looking for a cute and dumb girl? Better inflatable, so you don't even pay for dinner or
but it's not my fault, it's society's fault that gives me bread and deprives me of wisdom teeth. This is "Figli del caos," nonetheless a pleasant album but unfortunately flattened and made sterile perhaps by the heavy expectations that a debut with a major can create.
But not all harm is bad, and if today you step on me, tomorrow I will enrich my lyrics thanks to black eyes, and indeed
from this defeat, Two Fingerz will learn especially to be more themselves in future albums, also regaining the attention of majors later on.
