THE REVIEW

« Hey, what are you listening to?

« Well, mainly Metal...

« Great!

« Long live the god of metal! Haha, we truly are tough guys!

« Hard, Death, Black, Doom, Gothic, Epic, Thrash wooo.

STOP Pause, are we forgetting something?

Yes, the Glam, indeed a genre that creates embarrassment among people.

« But Glam isn’t even a genre, those wig-wearing...

Well, yes, Glam is this: a hard rock/heavy metal instrumentation with romantic and catchy melodies derived from glam rock. Focused on fun, youth revolution, rebellion, social issues, drinking, drugs, going out at night with friends, night parties, etc. Instrumentally, the genre features distorted riffs, technical solos, infectious choruses, the typical drum sound of the 80s.

All this prelude to introduce whom? Of course, it's them, the Twisted Sister. The Twisted Sisters gather their best in a CD containing 10 of their hits and a whole 5 live performances. A collection of songs resulting from 14 years of career, yes, I said 14.

The tracklist offers us as the first two choices the band's two most famous songs, respectively "We're Not Gonna Take It" and "I Wanna Rock".
The first is an anthem to laziness and freedom of choice, stadium-worthy choruses, and all the optimism of the 80s that the Twisted expressed when all their colleagues were locked home wallowing in the dim light talking about Satan and other nonsense.

"I Wanna Rock" is an unpretentious rocker, always riding the wave of the previous track; everyone who's heard it has sung it, come on, don’t deny it, you know it’s true... yes, you, you sang it once. We continue with more or less famous titles, always easy listening tracks, simple lyrics, simple base, from "I Am I'm Me" passing through "The Price" to "Shot' Em Down" they go down smoothly. From track 7 onwards, the lyrics are slightly more pissed off, the tones are meaner but always staying on the Glam wave. After these, the live performances begin, five shows where the New York band proves that the fruits of their work are not just the product of a good sound engineer as was common in that era.

The Twisted Sister are a band with no pretense, they serve as the soundtrack to everything... from when you're in the car to when you're lounging on the couch or when you just don’t know what to listen to, you listen, smile, and put the CD back on the shelf.

Twisted Sister

American hard rock/glam metal band formed in New York, led by vocalist Dee Snider and guitarist Jay Jay French. They broke through with Stay Hungry (1984) and the hits We’re Not Gonna Take It and I Wanna Rock. The classic lineup featured Eddie Ojeda, Mark “The Animal” Mendoza, and A.J. Pero. Snider famously challenged the PMRC in the mid‑1980s. The group disbanded in 1988 and later reunited, performing through 2016.
