Take the midwest emocore sounds of the 90s, add a bit of noise rock... and here you have the Twenty miles to mother.

Luigi, Luca (both already pioneers of the genre in the 90s with the never-forgotten Suburban Noise) and Nicola are on their first endeavor, influenced by Lifetime, Braid, Garden Variety, and the early Get up kids. But more than a demo, I would call it a first album.

Compelling and dynamic riffs, never static drums, well-conceived vocals and always pulsing bass are the ingredients of this more than good debut. The production is good, though not at excellent levels.

On the first listen, I am amazed by the second track (and in my opinion, just for this song, it's worth having the album) "Can't sleep on a Friday night", 4 well-crafted minutes, with a final part deserving applause, where the interplay of voices takes over for a crescendo that carries you to the conclusion of the track.

Not at all inferior to the track mentioned above is "Life time". More frantic than its predecessor, with repeated and well-conceived tempo changes that make everything unpredictable, where Nicola's guitars perfectly match Luigi's never commonplace timing.

Also excellent is "The road so far" and the instrumental track "Kiss the sky goodbye".

Perhaps the only flaw is represented by "Spring". A good acoustic track for sure, but it doesn't quite fit the theme of the album. But as they say in these occasions -The gustibus non est disputandum-.

There is certainly no lack of experience, nor ideas, nor the desire to create. Driven by new vitality and encouragement, this power trio is certainly not one of those bands that will be shelved over time. And it is certainly up to them, perhaps with a small dose of luck, to prove themselves as time goes on. I look forward to seeing their performance over the long haul in some time.

In conclusion, as mentioned above, more than a good debut. If there were a numerical scale (from 1 to 10, for example), I would give it a 7.5. I strongly recommend the album to those who lived through the melodies of the 90s, but also to those who might have set them aside due to the passing of years, hoping for a second youth. Yes, as if it were a second youth, a journey back in time that Luigi, Luca, and Nicola are undertaking, and which, frankly, I have undertaken with pleasure as well.

Peace.
