While I was sorting through my CDs, I stumbled upon a very strange cover, perhaps one of the most original I have ever seen... maybe.

I bought the album because the sales assistant described it to me as a masterpiece, in the style of Mars Volta... Well, perhaps the clerk was exaggerating a little, as there are very few similarities with Mars Volta, except for some flashes of psychedelia here and there. However, the album is very well structured and at times very intense. The strength of this work is the presence of many artists such as Will Oldham, the wonderful Mellowdrome, David Sylvian, Nick Young, Jennifer Charles, and Robert Smith...

The initial setting consists of dark atmospheres with clean guitars, with great emphasis on the synths, before entering with strong impact through distortions and particularly sweet melodies accompanied by good use of bass and drums. Passing through “Cauterized” we find a strong character and great musical motivation in the spirit of electronics, always used with dark and harsh sounds. The album lights up with “Trust Is,” sung by Robert Smith, a true Cure style song, a great piece, very warm and very psychedelic, perhaps more than its predecessors. Another very particular piece is “Sleepwalking Away” featuring Nick Young, possibly one of the best tracks on the album, with powerful riffs accompanied by oppressive drums, a particularly sensual voice with an at times sugary background...

The album is at times space-rock, yet remains difficult to listen to, recommended for those who are not intimidated by experimental music. But once understood, it becomes an excellent record.

The guests who help Vrenna and Clint Walsh in this work give an important and concrete contribution to the record, which is thereby widely enriched and multifaceted.

This 2 a.m. wake up call is not an album that will change your perception of music, but it will be good company on a reflective and contemplative evening.

The album can be viewed as a concept dedicated to the dreams/nightmares generated by the night.

An excellent album made for those who love sounds tinged with electronics and appreciate the nocturnal, disturbing, cryptic and enigmatic tones that only dreams and the night can bring us.
