LA RECENSIONE

The TV Buddhas are my latest crush, so you'll be hearing about them for months.

The TV Buddhas are a duo from Tel Aviv, consisting of Juval Haring (guitarist of Lebanon, a seminal Israeli post-rock band) and Mickey Trost, but don't immediately think of the White Stripes. The music of TV Buddhas is, in one word, trance, which draws both from the Velvet Underground and Black Sabbath, saturated with reverb to the impossible, ecstatic, erotic, dreamlike, transcendent, wonderfully carnal, perversely spiritual... you'll find yourself dancing in the middle of a room without even realizing it.

"III" is their third single (yes, the others are called I and II, and there's even IV... here, imagination is lacking), it opens with "Warending", a psychedelic ballad that then becomes as hard as a piece by Kyuss, continues with the sensual "I met a girl" and ends with the incredible "Ghost" an absolutely fantastic expansive instrumental track. It's a pity that on record, despite the good quality of the songs, the TV Buddhas fail to convey what they absolutely are live: a true ecstatic experience, considering that the duo plays in the midst of the audience, the volumes are deafening (as they should be, editor's note) and the people's involvement is total.

Love them.

TV Buddhas' third single, 'III', offers a trance-driven, psychedelic blend inspired by Velvet Underground and Black Sabbath. The release features three distinct tracks, including an expansive instrumental. Though the record captures quality songwriting, the review highlights the unmatched energy of their live performances as truly ecstatic and immersive.
