I strive to be serious, since I enjoy adding irony to the humble reviews I occasionally delight in editing.
I owe much of my mental well-being to Blaine Reininger, Steven Brown, Peter Principle, and associated musicians, including the defector Winston Tong. Masterful performance, as always, a few years after two shows I attended at Villa Ada.
I also owe thanks, because when the external hard drive landed ungracefully on the floor, I lost all its contents, including two albums purchased on BandCamp, a Tuxedomoon live show in Alberobello, and a magnificent album by Reininger. I had no copies except the originals, and it was the author himself who came to my rescue, providing me again with the codes for both downloads upon presenting the payment receipts. Besides the author's generosity, a superb musician, the Roman performance was one of the best in the Italian tradition of the San Francisco group, later transplanted to Belgium and now scattered across Greece, the USA, and Mexico.
Masterful music, played masterfully, inspired masterfully. All the best things, including a small extract from the beautiful "Pink Narcissus," vinyl only for a few aficionados. It won't be the last time; one always returns where there is much warmth. "Litebulb Overkill," the encore, was worth the entire ticket, which cost little in exchange for so much.
