An overrated album.
When you read the reviews out there, you expect something extraordinary.
To me, this pseudo-acoustic duo seems somewhere between the most boring moments of R.E.M. and John Denver, from unplugged pop to folk.
It adds nothing to your existence. There is always the feeling of déjà-vu or better, déjà-heard.
In short, nothing that deserves the 9/10 rating given by NME.
"PLEASE, SAVE ME... SAVE ME FROM MYSELF" invokes UNDERDOG; the cure will be based on dreams in music and words stolen from the stars.
The voice of EMERGENCY 72 is the passport to an unconscious ecstasy.
"Feeling Oblivion" already starts with its acoustic guitars and the duo’s voices that give a sense of carefree melancholy.
Turin Brakes started like this... they unfortunately lost their distinctive trademark after a short time, unnecessarily pumping up music that proudly carried the flag of the guitar-voice combo.
