The Profile

Norwegian rock band from Oslo known for coining “deathpunk,” fusing punk, hard rock and glam with provocative imagery and humor.

Formed in Oslo in 1989; self-described “deathpunk” pioneers. Fronted by Hank von Helvete from the early 1990s to 2010; reformed with vocalist Tony Sylvester in 2011. Global fan club known as Turbojugend. Key releases include Apocalypse Dudes (1998), Scandinavian Leather (2003), Sexual Harassment (2012) and RockNRoll Machine (2018).

Reviews celebrate Turbonegro’s deathpunk: a turbocharged mix of punk, hardcore, glam and hard rock. Ass Cobra is hailed as a 90s punk landmark, while Retox leans harder into classic-rock polish without losing bite. The debut is raw, noisy and dark, already flashing their outrageous humor and sexuality-drenched provocation. Overall verdict: loud, catchy, and gloriously indecent.
