LA RECENSIONE

The Turbonegro were the most outrageous Scandinavian rock'n'roll band. Glamorous in appearance but truly raw inside, they captivated Frank Kozik, former boss of Man's Ruin, who released their records in the USA. Broadly speaking, their music can be summed up as a mix of punk urgency and seventies-inspired hard/rock, with a great melodic sense.

Apocalypse Dudes was their last studio album, as the band disbanded in 1998 after a fiery concert in Milan (followed by a live "best-of" and a tribute album with major contributions from bands like Motorpsycho, Queens Of The Stone Age, Therapy?, and Nashville Pussy).

The album consists of 13 bullets that lodge in your head and refuse to leave, compelling you to listen again for a moment of illusory tranquility. There's not a track that stands out more than the others; they are all excellent compositions that will delight those who love this type of sound and bands like Hellacopters, Gluecifer, and Backyard Babies.

It goes without saying that Turbonegro didn't invent anything new, but this should not affect the listening of this work, which should be placed among the masterpieces of the genre.

Are you ready for some darkness?
