I hear screams outside the window, I believe it's a typical neighborly quarrel, but I'm not sure; I have no intention of checking because right now I feel the need to unload a review on the beloved DeBaser. I immediately realize they were just echoes of the cries of those who have just seen the lengthy title of True Widow's second album, which traveled across the entire Italian peninsula to reach my home, blending with the lovely music coming from my stereo.

No fear, the album's title doesn't deal with any avant-garde sonic concoction, nor is it a catchy phrase for yet another Post-Rock clone. For the members of the Dallas trio, it holds a meaning as simple as it is free, tending to represent everything present in the universe and the ways in which the various elements within it relate.

Produced by Kemado, also distributed by the commendable Coop Music, which makes certain niche records more easily accessible that would otherwise be even more forgotten, "A.h.a.t.h.h.a.f.t.c.t.t.c.o.t.e" is an album that offers the alternation of whispers in the Sandoval-like voice of bassist Nicole Estill and the more energetic tone of guitarist Dan Phillips, who create an atmosphere mixing reminiscences of the Shoegaze sound wall and the psychedelic mood of My Bloody Valentine, the slow and "hopeful" rhythms of Low, and late Stoner-Rock guitar riffs. To the delight of all nerds, the group has coined a new stylistic label, known as "Stonegaze", which might be the best way to synthesize their music in one word, but the truth is that the Sonic Youth attitude is always alive. Therefore, True Widow offers a delightful reworking of '90s sounds that aren't blatant imitations but simply characteristics attributable to the synthesis of the Band's listening experiences, who grew up playing Punk and expanded their musical horizons over time.

The album in question is nothing more than a genuine product, with songs, according to them, born at home in a moment of inspiration, sheltered from the winter cold. If you're sad that summer is over and you watch the rain fall, dismayed and stunned, with one too many storms preventing you from taking a walk or a bike ride towards Mount Sinai to establish a new belief with followers in tow, stop pouting and take comfort with this album within your four walls as long as possible.
