THE REVIEW

"Arcane Runes Adorn The Ice-Wrought Monoliths Of The Ancient Cavern Of Stars", the latest "studio" album from the British band, preceding the suicide of one of the two members, James Baker (aka Belegur, Mordraaneth) just a year ago, with only a handful of EPs and CD-Rs released.

The tracks in question are also described by the authors as drone/ambient/doom. There are only four, but they exceed the average length of a normal track. The pieces are quite homogeneous, with bass and keyboard endlessly chasing each other, extremely stretched and distorted, zero drums or any percussion, a mix between Brian Eno (it's impossible not to mention his name when talking about ambient) and Burzum, truly saturated.

I absolutely recommend this EP, but only if you are familiar with certain extreme music. I must admit, it tends to lead a bit to narcolepsy.

For the writer: magnificent.
