Rating: It's at moments like these, after listening numerous times to this musical gem, that I wish I could understand how to write such beautiful songs.
Here we are in front of one of the best Italian musical scenes where fantastic melodies, superb arrangements, and romantic lyrics create the calling card for the fantastic world of Tristema.
"Come ti vorrei" is the first album of this extraordinary Campanian quartet, whose lineup is:
Candido: Voice and Bass
Alessandro: Voice, Guitar, and Synth
Romolo: Guitar and Choruses
Giuseppe: Drums
The CD is composed of 10 songs. It starts with "Di notte" one of the edgiest songs of the CD where the guitar distortions create an atmosphere of pure alternative rock, all tied together and at the same time contrasted by a romantic lyric. We move to "Ti sto cercando" where the theme remains the same, that is, love, but in a much more radio-friendly and delicate context where we can notice the charisma and excellent performance of Candido (Voice and Bass).
Now it's the turn of "Ora che tu puoi" How to describe this song??? Take a winning song from the Sanremo festival, and we are certainly not talking about povia^_^, and add a touch of rock. Well yes... This song, if they brought it to Sanremo, would make a lot of money, and so finally after many years, a deserved victory at the Ariston. The piano and a string quartet dominate the entire song, while the two beautiful and different voices convey pure class...
After the 4 minutes of "ora che tu puoi" comes "Funerale" and I wonder: is it still them or has someone changed the CD??? The song starts with a rock riff, thus forming an explosive rhythm section. Everything calms down in the verse, and immediately my ears pay attention to the lyrics. This time the main theme is no longer love, but humanity... a corrupt humanity, full of money and dangerous people... After the verse comes the chorus... In my opinion, one of the most beautiful of the CD where the voice melody, once in your head, never goes away. And so we reach the instrumental part. I just want to say one thing: moving...
The time to dry my tears of delight from "Funerale" starts "Libero". Another very radio-friendly piece where the chorus vaguely reminds of the more melodic Staind, followed by a D I V I N E solo, where they show that besides being melodic they have great technique and excellent taste. Here comes track 6... "Un viaggio senza fine". Put together a piece of the now-defunct Soundgarden and Pearl Jam, naturally with more pop hues, and the job is done... The lyrics are very beautiful.... "E con te" It starts with a synth arpeggio, immediately followed by the distorted rhythm of Alessandro and Romolo while underneath, Giuseppe (Drums) and Candido (Voice and Bass), move divinely shifting the various accents. What characterizes this song is the insertion of various loops and synths and especially the work done on the voices, which in the finale, reminds of the beautiful choruses of Queen...
And now it's the turn of "Indelebile" the most pop song of the CD that will make many young girls in love happy... we will soon hear it on the radio. We move to "Guardami in faccia" where the class of our four is once again felt. Mysterious settings linked to a very, very particular text, a sort of request to the almighty, which really makes you reflect. Great vocal skills of the two singers. And so we find ourselves listening to "Dentro i ricordi miei" a piece that has the task of closing this wonderful musical journey. And it does it spectacularly...
The melody of the voice completely devastates your soul, all played divinely. The arrangement is very beautiful. Almost 44 minutes have passed, and I already feel like putting the CD on again...
