THE REVIEW

In the Ricordi della mia città they only employ incompetent people, but it is with immense surprise that I find this EP. Having never heard of it, I buy it in a flash and the cashier tells me it's imported and I have to pay 16 euros. Damn it, since it lasts 16 minutes, that's one euro per minute. Download the music if you're not a fan of the original like me.

"Mission Accomplished" is encapsulated in four short songs that encompass four different types of sound, recorded in New York in 2000. It also marks Tricky's transition from Island to Anti, a noted Dutch label. To lure him to their production house, the director hands him a huge bag of weed, planning an EP, Tricky seems happy and effectively knew how to win him over. The self-titled track as the first is a trip-hop gem with repetitive drums, distorted guitar, and his dialogue. You might have already heard the second one in "Juxtapose" as Tricky duets with the white MC from London whom he holds in infinite respect, it is marked by a drum'n'bass electronic beat and their very hip hop verses. The third is a totally funky track, here the instruments return and the voice belongs solely to the white guy from London. The last one titled "Divine Comedy" reminds of "Money Greedy" even though his voice is nastier, what's he saying? "Who I am? A fucking nigger".

A great EP can make a positive impact regardless of how many songs it has, and this one has shaped me quite a bit over the last five years. I recommend, if you can accept it, to get it or maybe download it.
