With the temporary departure of singer Bobby Kimball from the group, guitarist Steve Lukather makes the bold decision to perform the lyrics himself. The result is an excellent work, in fact, Tambu, thanks to Steve's warm voice, creates an enveloping atmosphere for the listener.
Tambu was released in 1995, marking a step forward in the history of the American band. Indeed, this album is different from previous ones: less rock-oriented and with softer sounds, let's say an album to listen to in the living room.
Nevertheless, the album contains some great pieces: from the poignant "I Will Remember", to the engaging "The Turning Point", then to the instrumental "Dave's Gone Skiing", and finally the magnificent and emotional "The Road Goes On".
It is worth highlighting the album's lyrics, which once again showcase the writing talents of Lukather and Paich: the true souls of the band. In conclusion, Tambu is an excellent album, very pleasant to listen to and revisit.
