The Tortuga doesn't need much to easily get into the minds of their listeners. Their love, on the other hand, is visceral for rock music, and it does not matter if luck will knock on their door or not. They come from Sardinia - from Alghero to be precise - and in their songs, there is certainly a lot of their land, especially in that relationship made of melancholy and love towards the main element, the sea. "Il click del Capodoglio" is their full-length recording debut following in the footsteps of the mini "Diario dell’inverso." Footsteps that the band has followed in a few aspects, such as the rock-oriented artistic imprint and the willingness to perform in their native language concerning the vocals. In this new album, we find a band intent on proving their interesting writing skills (we could easily mention "Insonnia" and "La parte migliore" as the most intriguing examples) and a fresh and timely sound. A work, in my view, that focuses on the term "swim," often used within the songs, and a simple yet effective way to create a well-defined scenario for the listener. The first single "Nuoto" is perhaps the most intense and controversial track so far produced by Tortuga, dark and multifaceted. "Il click del Capodoglio" is therefore a work that, if handled intelligently, could quickly bring these musicians to the forefront, perhaps still a tad hesitant in granting liveliness and unpredictability to their songs but nonetheless on the right path. As it is a debut, I think it is truly difficult to ask more from a band, especially if related to a genre that has said practically everything, or almost. Italian rock, done and finished. It may or may not appeal, but the fact remains that this is what the Tortuga wants to do, and they have done it, with the right passion.
