THE REVIEW

10 songs, 5 years of absence: in May 2010 "Yes I Cant", the last album of Tony Tammaro, was released (does he even need an introduction?!).

His unmistakable voice this time is accompanied by truly skilled musicians, capable of giving a slightly more sophisticated arrangement than usual to his pieces: and so we find ourselves listening to a blues on the Naples bypass and Tony's new Smart, or the dance track on the flight to Sharm El Sheik, effectively the international Scalea (Neapolitans will get the reference).

And what about a man (Vecienzo, the mysterious cousin of Lorenzo Jovanotti) who has traveled the world but then gets lost in the "Auscian" parking lot?

"I've been to Nigeria, I've been to Rwanda

and when I was in China, I slept 'int' 'a Panda.

Returning from Africa, I stopped to shop in a supermarket:

in the middle of the checkout lanes, amidst the shopping carts, I heard a voice: "Addò stann e' friariell'?"

"E quatt a' Notte" can be considered an updated version of "Animale," where this time the list of foods is that of a kebab shop...in short, a Tony in step with the times!

"People have no end, they have no dignity, look at the fat guy next to me almost about to burst.

Peanuts, chicken nuggets, and mayonnaise packs.

Onions, sausages, fries, and chicken wings, the ascolane olives.

People console themselves with this stuff here, but now comes the solo, wait for me, Giuvà!"

...And the solo is really there! On the piano, and not bad at all...well done, Tony!

A lot of attention is also given to themes like homosexuality, with "Renato", the lovestruck fish (...)

"Under the rocks, amidst the gay waves, I stand in front and you stay behind me

if you want to swim, I'll make you feel better! Tomorrow we go to the sea, just you and me"

The other tracks are all funny, some maybe a little less, like the last two songs, which seem a bit out of place compared to the album's spirit: "Kitarre scostumate" I didn't really understand, while "Napoli" proposes itself as a serious and inspired anthem to the support of the blue team, but personally, it was unsuccessful! Tony Tammaro's artistic qualities are quite different...

A funny album, from an artist who has given much to the south and continues to entertain in his shows, never backing down, never appearing repetitive and nostalgic of the boom times (early nineties)...but most of all, never afraid to innovate and seek something new and more sophisticated, even musically; definitely more than just a comedian!
