THE REVIEW

I am writing this "review" impulsively for the fourth time. I can never find the exact words to describe how much beauty there is in these 12 minutes of Long Play; indeed, we are talking about the "long" work of this young Los Angeleno, EPs typically have around 6 songs in about 6 minutes. At home, I have the re-edited vinyl for Slumberland, and the grooves are all clustered towards the outside, as if the plate's centrifugal force has destined and concentrated them all there. Tony Molina is essential, in less than a minute and a half he manages to handle verse, chorus, and solo. His strength lies in not taking you back, the next track is always an engaging riff, the voice lives in an ancient melancholia, the guitar is gritty both in melodic-punk nuances and in the solos at the edge of the most catchy metal. If you look at the boy on the back of the vinyl, you find yourself in front of a bespectacled nerd, with adolescent acne and clear Mexican origins. Other than Mexico, the rest is entirely comparable and assimilable to the most tear-jerking Rivers Cuomo, the one who left a black hole in his discography and doesn’t want to look at it anymore, often turning away even in front of his own fans.

In part, Molina manages to give us those true feelings that Cuomo has forgotten, he delivers reflective pieces despite their brevity, a bit like this "review" or suggestion that I want to offer you.
