LA RECENSIONE

"Welcome back says the voice on the radio".

You may like it or not, but you have to acknowledge that Tom McRae is not an artist who suffers from the "carbon copy syndrome", meaning that after a good album, he quickly puts out an almost identical one. In fact, "Just Like Blood" represents for Tom McRae the attempt to evolve compared to his first self-titled album from about three years ago.

An attempt partially successful.
After all, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

In just 40 minutes, there is a noticeable focus on arrangements, less essential and more refined, at the expense, however, of the expressive spontaneity of the English songwriter.
The emotional impact of his first album was quite another thing compared to "Just Like Blood" (de gustibus).

On first listen, you remain a bit puzzled. The impression is of having prematurely concluded a musical journey. Nevertheless, you find dark, suggestive, and fascinating atmospheres, though not for everyone.

We fall
Through water
Unsung unseen
And days
Thought endless
Lose more
Light and heat

So let the dead bury the dead
I should leave

For I am
For I am overhtrown
Confess to me now
Confess to me now

Half in sunlight
And half in shade
Words in collision
I bend to your shape
I see the skull beneath the skin
I see it all

For I am
For I am overhtrown
Confess to me now
Confess to me now

For I am
For I am overhtrown
Confess to me now
Confess to me now
Confess to me now
