LA RECENSIONE

Let's face it, Dragon Ball had already become a drag after the Freezer saga, not to mention the dreadful GT. But instead of putting a definitive end to it, almost 20 years after the conclusion of GT, Toei and Toriyama come up with this new series set between the defeat of Majin Buu and the end of Z, with the aim of gathering new cash... uh, I mean introducing the new generations to the brand. Dragon Ball Super is an absolutely commercial product, with one boring episode after another, featuring cringe-worthy drawings and poorly animated scenes, transformations that are nothing more than recolors of the old ones (the only decent one being the Ultra Instinct, the sole redeeming feature of this anime-mess), soporific fights where no more wounds and blood appear on the fighters' bodies – compared to this, Doraemon is a violent cartoon – and absurd enemies that provide no tension at all (I would save just Zamasu and Black Goku), with Goku who has turned into a fool, making the character from the first series seem like Leonardo Da Vinci, trashing all the physical and mental development the character underwent throughout the series. Gohan now only thinks about chicks and studies, becoming weaker than a Saibaiman and getting defeated by Freezer's goons, who are as strong as a Guldo, embarrassing. The only characters that have been decently handled are Vegeta and Android 17, who undergo an interesting evolution compared to the old series. So what can I say, Dragon Ball Super is something horrifying, a far cry from the original Dragon Ball. Not recommended.

Summary by Bot

Dragon Ball Super fails to live up to the legacy of the original Dragon Ball series, offering poor animation, lackluster battles, and disappointing character development. While some elements like Ultra Instinct and characters like Vegeta and Android 17 are somewhat redeeming, the series largely feels like a commercial cash grab. Fans of the original may find this sequel frustrating and not recommended.
