The Tindersticks, or the art of immobility.
Having reached their sixth studio album, the Tindersticks do not change course. Take any of their works, listen to it carefully, and then identify the characteristics of their music.
The adjectives most will use are: dark, noir, melancholic, romantic, sad, introspective, nocturnal. Someone might say cheesy or whiny, but the meaning, albeit negative, will remain the same.
Well, now listen to "Waiting For The Moon" and you will realize that these adjectives will never change for the Tindersticks. In fact, from album to album, their stylistic imprint does not change even by a comma, it remains the same.
For some, this can be a good thing. In fact, many will be happy to "discover" the same sounds year after year.
For me, on the other hand, all this can translate into boredom.
Let’s be clear, by this I do not mean that "Waiting For The Moon" is a horrendous record. It still presents some interesting episodes like the spoken word of "4.48 Psychosis" or the country ballad "Just A Dog".
However, everyone who has already had the chance in the past to consume large doses of Tindersticks can easily do without this album.
