Tinariwen are a Tuareg musical collective from northern Mali who blend traditional Saharan song forms with electric guitars and desert-blues rhythms. Members met in Libyan camps and transformed armed struggle into musical expression.

Tassili (their album) received a Grammy Award (Best World Music Album, 2012). They have recorded in desert locations and collaborated with international musicians such as Nels Cline, members of Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Tunde Adebimpe and Kyp Malone; Justin Adams has produced some of their work. They have performed at major international festivals including Glastonbury, Coachella and Womad and have toured worldwide.

DeBaser hosts two reviews of Tinariwen focusing on Elwan and Tassili. Reviews highlight the band's Tuareg roots, desert-blues sound, field recordings and notable collaborations. The coverage is admiring and reflective, emphasizing cultural identity and musical resilience.
