LA RECENSIONE

- An environment is defined as an atmosphere, or an influence that surrounds: a tint. While conventional background music is produced by stripping away any sense of doubt and uncertainty (and therefore all genuine interest) from the music, Ambient music retains these qualities. And while their intention is to “brighten” the environment by adding stimuli (thus supposedly relieving the tedium of routine activities and leveling the natural highs and lows of the body's rhythms), Ambient music is intended to induce calm and provide a space to think.

- White noise is a particular type of noise characterized by the absence of periodicity in time and constant amplitude across the entire frequency spectrum.

<< White noise, similar to a continuous rustling or blowing, is considered relaxing. Some acoustic white noise generators are used to cover background noise in indoor environments or to promote relaxation.>>

- In music, the drone is a harmonic or monophonic accompaniment effect in which a note or chord is played continuously for a significant part or the entire composition, sustained or repeated, and often determines the key of the composition itself.

« rather than emerging like a ship on the ocean, it becomes part of that same ocean... Music that we hear, but do not hear; sounds that exist to put us in a position to hear silence; sounds that free us from our compulsive need to analyze, classify, categorize, isolate. >>
