This time it's a Sicilian band from Catania that's delighting my ears with their first single called Sweet In Your Eyes...
The band in question is called Thunderforce, and they offer a kind of modern Power Metal infused with elements of Progressive flair. The single deserves a better recording quality; the singer has an excellent vocal setup but needs to improve the English pronunciation. The guitar layers riff upon riff, giving the solos moments of true melody, managing to make the rhythmic base of the entire song structure versatile, melodic, and mighty. The bassist, who is mentioned in the band's biography as the guitarist's cousin, is precise and fills the sound wall by alternating riffs, scales, and tight rhythms... the drums hammer the tempo for the entire duration of the song with a style typically dear to the old-school Manowar fans.
What can I say, then? The track sounds good, it's catchy, it works and doesn't bore; only the intro reminds me of something I've already heard, and the recording isn't the best. I'm looking forward to listening to more works from the group to get a broader sense of Thunderforce's potential, as they've already significantly impressed me with this first single.
