Last night I got drunk. And this morning, upon waking up, my headache was pounding. First stop, the bathroom. Second stop, coffee. Still with sleepy eyes and the walls of my brain shattered, I turn on the computer and play the album I haven't listened to yet by Three Trapped Tigers, "Ep3".
At first, I convince myself it's not a good idea, that the trio, two synths and a drum kit, is too much for my morning headache. Then I remember how I discovered the Three Trapped Tigers (a friend sends you a link from YouTube saying: listen to these guys, they rock, and the drummer is a machine, and it's true!) I change my mind and start listening to Neil Young while checking my emails. But my eyes keep darting from the "Music" folder to the "Download!" folder where the album I just downloaded is resting. I finish my coffee, light a cigarette, and damn it, let's play Ep3.
The album is a waterfall of colors in music. Syncopated rhythms, sampled voices and layers of synths that alternate with digital pianos, guitars, and bursts of pure electronics. I soon fall in love with these four tracks (10, 11, 12, 13) and listen to them more than once. They don't cure the headache but manage to make me forget it, giving me a wonderful trip of about twenty minutes.
There would be a lot to say about how good and original they are and many other musings, but these are things that everyone evaluates in the privacy of their own constipation... And I still have a headache, definitely too much free wine last night!
