What does it take today for an emerging band to instantly be in step with the times? Technical quality?! Yes, in part. A good singer?! Sometimes it's not that essential. Luck?! It should never be missing. So, you might be asking?! The main answer, I think, is just one, namely a producer with guts. It's incredible how this figure has become crucial in the success of an album/band nowadays; we could almost say they have a 70% share in the good outcome of a product.

The other side of the coin (because unfortunately, there's always one), what does it see?! A general flattening on an artistic level. Most records today sound unlike ever before—crystal clear, powerful, ultra-processed, but then? You find yourself dealing with cookie-cutter works in this respect, especially in already overused musical genres like metalcore. The Turin-based band Thousand Miles Away could easily be included in this category, being a band that, just a year after its formation, managed to release an EP on which there is nothing to complain about, professional in every aspect and with an excellent production (precisely) resulting from the work of Jaxon Vex (frontman of Cry Excess).

The American new school scene (where we find various The Ghost Inside and Devil Wears Prada) is certainly the main reference point for our band, often careful not to overdo breakdowns and typical genre stereotypes. Interesting when they step on the gas and a bit to review when they open up to melody, the Thousand Miles Away of “A monster behind a mask” are the classic band that definitely doesn't intend to take things lightly, showing attention to every detail, from songwriting to the way they vocally interpret the songs. Seriousness that we hope will turn into courage over time and thus lead them away from reference groups, in search of something daring, yes, but certainly more personal.
