LA RECENSIONE

EP of only three tracks for this young Trieste-based combo, formed in the summer of 2011 and recently joined the This Is Core roster.

“Mrs. Maybridge” is the summary of over a year of work, which led the musicians to choose a path that is quite well-trodden: that of metalcore. Leaving aside the usual comments on the stylistic path adopted by the musicians, what emerges in their songs is mainly their inexperience, highlighted by approximate solutions and basic ideas still in a full evolutionary phase. In short, a product that is unripe in many aspects. Firstly, musically: even though they try to find the right alchemy, This Melting Romance fails to go beyond the classic schemes of the genre, making everything less flat through some escapades in post areas. The growl in the vocal part is decidedly "forced," a piece that doesn't convince at all, while definitively over the top is the interpretation of the melodic parts, certainly the highlight of this EP, along with the well-made artwork.

Since they are still a young band (average age 19/21 years), they still have a lot of time to get it right, so we will wait for the debut album for a more accurate judgment. For now, though, thumbs down.

Summary by Bot

This Melting Romance's 'Mrs. Maybridge' EP shows a young band's early attempt at metalcore, marked by inexperience and unrefined ideas. The vocals are criticized for sounding forced, though the melodic parts and artwork receive some praise. The band is still evolving, with potential for growth in future releases.
