Now I'm writing a highly biased review since Thin White Rope is one of my favorite bands.
This live recorded in Ghent on June 28, 1992 is the epitaph of an extraordinary career, because it encapsulates all the energy of a band that in 8 years (and five albums) of honorable career never had a dip in style.
That evening will remain etched in the memory of those who were lucky enough to be there because Guy Kyser and Roger Kunkel were inspired, the former with his vitriolic voice launching blasphemous howls, the latter with his distorted guitar that kills you inside. Even the rhythm section is a steamroller and all this fused together gave life to their greatest live performance.
Great choice to open everything with "Down In The Desert" which is their signature song (and the most beautiful) and then to continue with a breathtaking setlist of well-known and lesser-known tracks ("Wire Animals", "Take It Home", "Mr. Limpet", "Triangle Song") with the conclusion entrusted to the cover of "Yoo Doo Right" by Can. In short, it's hard to understand why someone with a voice like Guy Kyser's left the band to become a botanist somewhere in California.
Nonetheless, it's definitely a must-have album for the nostalgics of the Thin White Rope.

The tiny stage transmits a contact that is not only visual, making everything more alive, felt, and direct.
The guys don’t seem to care about all this, they are ready to take the stage and ignite the powders one last time.
