From the series: more drained than ever. Drool at the mouth, head spinning, desire to dissolve. Am I still alive? I fear I chose the wrong CD to listen to!
It's These New Puritans with "Hidden". The latest work from these English guys, electronic style... visual...
But here it comes... what is happening?... beep... beep... beep... oh it's my heart! It beats again! beep beep beep beep! And while I listen, something happens, a choir wakes me up, here comes energy... what to do? Write!
I have to admit that it indeed turned out well, certainly not a masterpiece, but worth listening to attentively!
Eleven tracks, one better than the other, in my opinion! Noise, disconnected and mixed sound, sometimes contrasting and other times fluid.
It's as if from the beginning you expect something to happen even if you're not sure, and instead you are hit, shocked, shaken, and then thrown back down.
Imagine you are zoning out, staring at the white wall in front of you, and it suddenly comes toward you. Dazed, you open your eyes and see your body on the wall, stuck. Yes! Like when you squash a fly and it remains stuck!
Finally free from the unnecessary weight of this container, you are ready to soar, ignite your soul, and fantasize.
Could these London guys have given me more? A fantastic example of musical autonomy, people who don't care much about pleasing others!
We begin with "Time Xone", I can't explain why start with something so depressing... and then, still in psychedelic style, we can hear "We Want War", "Three Thousand", and "Hologram". A burst of life comes from "Attak Music" and "Fire-Power".
Shattered glass, choirs, and effects. As if that weren't enough, an entire orchestra!
There, the peak has been reached because from now on, from "Orion" to "Canticle", torpor prevails.... And just when the body is about to detach from the wall, sliding down leaving a trail of blood, the wall bangs back on you. You're back inside. With "Drum Courts- Where Corals Lie" the sensation of being crushed is inevitable. The last two tracks, "White Chords" and "5- These New Puritans" acclimate you to the idea of the bodily trap, but perhaps you're no longer so sad about living in it.

"The dream would be for people to still not 'get' what we were trying to do." - Jack Barnett
Hidden is truly something new; forget the These New Puritans of the first Beat Pyramid... fragment it, and only then can you have an idea of Hidden.
