It's 1995, a fairly prolific year from a musical standpoint: I don't know why, but in my collection, there are lots of CDs from that year. It's the year of Oasis, Blur, and the like; but it's especially the year of this album "therapy." Yes, dear ones, for me it was a therapy that cured me of a lot of crap that was circulating in music stores at that time. Do you ever delve into your personal collection and extract "your" masterpieces from it: the ones that mean something more to you compared to the others? I often do, and this is one of them.
Infernal Love is a m-a-s-t-e-r-p-i-e-c-e by the Irish band that has never been as underrated as compared to other far inferior bands; or rather, it was praised for that nonsense that is "troublegum," which, although commendable, doesn't even come close to this.
It starts with "Epilepsy," which encapsulates the anger that has characterized Therapy's sound for years, with unsynchronized tempos and a voice that is furious to the max. "Stories" is the lead single of the album with its sharp riff that leaves you stunned, "A Moment Of Clarity" softens the atmosphere with a bit of melody and choppy guitars, "Jude The Obscene" with its galloping pace and a spine-chilling chorus. The album flows by without you even noticing, and you ask yourself: are these really the Therapy? the ones with the "question mark" at the end? YES, they are them, you idiot!!
The peak is reached with "Bowels Of Love," where Cairns' voice, set to the max, is almost laughable but perfectly in tune and ends with an implosion/explosion that leaves you in awe. Towards the end, there's a cover "Diane," don't ask me by whom because at the moment I forget, or I never knew: who cares anyway!
In short, if you didn't understand, a fundamental album for me, but not only.
Here we are with another crappy review, but I promise the next one will be up to this site's standards (?!!!?). But do I care?? Do I give a damn? Not at all, I'd say.....
Cheers.
