Here I am reviewing this album quite targeted by critics, we are talking about Theory Of A Deadman who present themselves with their third effort named "Scars & Souvenirs".

They are labeled as clones of the more famous Nickelback and it's worth remembering that the leader of the aforementioned band (Chad Kroeger) launched Theory of A Deadman.
But let's get into the details.

The music and style of this group have always been considered very similar to those of Nickelback, certainly true but...

In the first album, which nonetheless contained well-crafted songs and highlighted the capabilities of this band, the connection with Nickelback was evident (Chad Kroeger was the co-producer of the album), in the second the band began to work on their own and despite the sound being quite similar to that of Nickelback (is that a bad thing?) the band managed to compose a respectable album.

In this third album whose premise was "Create the best CD possible" words from the singer/guitarist and composer of almost all the lyrics Tyler Connolly, the connection with Nickelback and the band’s independence decrease further reaching a good result.

In some songs the sound similar to Nickelback is still felt, but in my opinion, this is not enough to penalize this excellent group that plays very well and is still very young.

The first song of which a single was released before the album's release is called “So Happy” and it is one of the best songs on the album, played really well and sung even better by the beautiful voice of Tyler Connolly, the result is a healthy hard rock that conveys a lot of energy.

We come to a song that has recently been quite successful in Canada and the USA and is one of the most successful songs on the album, I'm talking about “Bad Girlfriend” bad girls "hit," it seems, the sound is always of excellent level with fitting lyrics well intoned; A fun song whose chorus reminds "The Woman" by Fire Cult.

“By The Way” is another well-crafted song, successful from the textual point of view with a sound featuring a remarkable chorus that makes the song very exciting.

Let's move to “Got It Made” a somewhat repetitive song, but it manages to thrill with an excellent sound despite a less successful yet enjoyable text. Decent.

Moving on to “Not Meant To Be” a quiet song that highlights Tyler Connolly's beautiful voice and a wonderful intro that will appeal to the more romantic ones, another well-made song.

We reach “Crutch” another decent song with a very fun sound not equally successful in terms of lyrics.

Let's shift to one of the best songs of this album “All Or Nothing” a truly beautiful song with Connolly unleashing a fantastic voice accompanied by an excellent very "romantic" and balanced sound and an intro played with the piano, the text is a small masterpiece.

Let's go to “Heaven” in my opinion the worst song on the album, but in any album, there's always the least successful song, I'd be worried if there were many more poorly done songs and that doesn't seem to be the case with this album.

We continue with “Hate My Life” excellent voice as always by Connolly, good text, not bad, it manages to thrill with a nice chorus.

Proceeding to “Little Smirk”, a song of good level, very successful sound, decently textual. More than decent.

Shifting to “End Of The Summer”, a so-so song.

Even “Wait For Me” is of a decent level but there are surely better ones in this album.

We conclude with “Sacrifice” which presents a good sound but a poor text evidently written in haste.

Summing up the best tracks on the album are:

“All Or Nothing”
“So Happy”
“Bad Girlfriend”
“By The Way”
“Not Meant To Be”
“Hate My Life”

As you can see, a good 6 well-crafted tracks you will fall in love with if you like the genre, the remaining tracks are still decent except for the 2 black sheep “Sacrifice” and “Heaven” but all in all the album seems to me of excellent craftsmanship.

I'm sure that with the next work these guys will definitely shake off the label of “Nickelback’s protégés”, meanwhile for the present we are faced with an excellent album that I highly recommend to rock lovers, this band deserves it because it has talent and is not one of the many “Highly Endorsed” bands.
