THE REVIEW

Third full-length for Theatre des Vampires, a band from the capital with a large number of members (7-8 to be (im)precise), all of great caliber.

Beautiful album, absolutely precious and well produced/performed, well sung. In this album, the Black component was still present (which would fade in subsequent releases) but it does not play too overwhelming a role.

It transitions from the black of Dominions (complete with Hammond, I believe) to the gothic of Oath of Supremacy, but without any sense of deviation or disconnect. In fact, whether due to the order of the songs or simply the production, these songs blend together and give a feeling of thrill to the surrounding environment.

Excellent work by keyboardist Necros, who, far from being gaudy, is very harmonious and perfectly in line with the tracks.

Perhaps their best album, perhaps a masterpiece; the fact remains that I liked it a lot, and I hope others will enjoy it as well.

Theatres des Vampires' third album, Bloody Lunatic Asylum, successfully blends black and gothic metal elements with flawless production and performance. The keyboard work by Necros adds harmony without overwhelming the album's dark vibe. This album is praised as possibly their best work, with well-sequenced tracks that create a thrilling atmosphere.
