LA RECENSIONE

The return on the scene of our local "vampiric metal" formation, which would be nothing more than a harmless gothic metal with dark and symphonic shades. From the production standpoint of the album, well, it's pointless to dwell on it since it's impeccable. Just as impeccable is the suffering, languid, and sensual voice of our charming vocalist Sonya Scarlet.

The tracks that make up the album don't differ much from the aforementioned description, so proceeding with a track-by-track is, indeed, unnecessary and inappropriate. However, I would stop to analyze the songs that, in some way, awakened feelings in me and aroused some different charm compared to the masses. Among the 10, I would mention the ballad "From The Deep," a miracle of music, which pairs well with "Unspoken Words." A separate discussion deserves the title track, "Anima Noir" which, introduced by a beautiful piano riff, presents us with what will follow, namely overflowing and fascinating melodies, with an exciting Sonya whose muffled voice gives the song that touch of twilight and dark, perverse but at the same time, refined and classy.

The rest of the compositions, however, get "lost" in a déjà vu, i.e., an extremization of the keyboard-synth dynamic, alternating female and deeper male vocals, never growl, thus avoiding falling into the vulgar and the obvious.

What can I say: this album by TDV does not differ much from the previous coordinates to which the band had accustomed and, why not, spoiled us. After all, if it's true that there are songs that add little to the rest of the soup, it's also true that "Anima Noir" and "From The Deep" alone justify the album.

Recommended.

"Anima Noir is their 7th album, a collection of 10 lullabies characterized by a gothic metal/rock filled with electronic influences, sung by the intense voice of Sonya Scarlet."

"The beautiful 'Anima Noir' is a stunning ballad for piano and strings, where Sonya offers a truly heartfelt performance, whispered to then explode into an angelic lyrical singing."
