This debut album by the New Yorkers "Zen Circus" is truly excellent, a new formation composed of a Mexican guitarist, a former Tibetan monk drummer, and a Japanese singer (in NY they practically throw Japanese singers at you). The group, formed in a squat in one of the city's most notorious areas, achieved notoriety after numerous reviews from specialized press. With these electro-acoustic punk sounds, they launch a career certainly destined for success, having quickly moved from suburban neighborhoods to the radio and journalistic spotlight in just a few months.

[NB: if you reached this page via a search engine and are unfamiliar with De-Baser, know that everything I've written is completely false]

If I had written that "Zen Circus" are three guys from Pisa, who have a job and go home for lunch to their mother's for lasagna with sauce at noon, no one would have cared... Anyway, I absolutely recommend this album; compared to the two previous albums, they have moved from acoustic punk to a more complex indie pop with the usual mix of ingredients that have brought the band from Pisa such success: irony, prominent bass, fragments of noise rock, and above all that punk energy that always hits the spot ("It turns me on").

The new direction closely recalls the latest works of Perturbazione, who happen to be guests (fancy that!) on the heartbreak tune "Sweet Me". I'm sure this will be your summer album! I can already see you with your earphones heading to the beach, mimicking the trumpet in "Time killed my love" or humming the marvelous "Sailing Song" ("...oh-oh oh-oh oh oooone moooore point!"). And what can we say about "Way South," halfway between the Beach Boys and Pixies (let's not
always bring up the Violent Femmes, to whom they are often compared...)?

"Doctor Seduction" is an incredibly enjoyable album, whose added strength lies in the skill of balancing electric and acoustic like no other in Italy can. The only thing I expect from the next album is singing in Italian ( come on, guys, at least give it a try!).
