The Profile

The Yardbirds are an English rock band formed in London in 1963, key to the British Invasion and famed for launching Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Jimmy Page. They bridged blues, pop, and psychedelia, pioneering fuzz, feedback, and raga-tinged sonics on hits like For Your Love, Heart Full of Soul, and Shapes of Things. After disbanding in 1968, they reformed in 1992 and have continued to tour and record, including the 2003 album Birdland.

Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (1992). Performed “Stroll On” in Michelangelo Antonioni’s Blow‑Up (1966). Known for classic recordings such as For Your Love, Heart Full of Soul, Shapes of Things, Train Kept A‑Rollin’, and the influential albums Five Live Yardbirds and Roger the Engineer.

Reviews celebrate The Yardbirds as a pivotal British Invasion band and launchpad for Clapton, Beck, and Page. Highlights include the fuzz-and-feedback leap of Having a Rave Up, the adventurous Roger the Engineer, Page’s era on Little Games and the remixed Yardbirds ’68, plus classic singles like For Your Love. Later documents like Birdland and Live at B.B. King Blues Club show the legacy carried forward.
