Hey there, folks! I just discovered that this collection is missing from the site, and it's strange because it's about the Who, not small potatoes. So I took the opportunity to publish the first review MYSELF, since everyone here is quite particular about not creating duplicates.

Anyway, let me tell you right away. Despite the band being legendary, this collection is not very comprehensive. The album focuses, and it's easy to understand from the title, mainly on the early exciting years of the band's career, but at the expense of their better albums (in my opinion), the so-called "Rock Opera".

Significant importance is also given to the singles released over the years that were never included in studio albums, but still, some of my favorite tracks are missing. For example, "The Real Me", "Love, Reign O'er Me", which is my favorite by the Who, the beautiful "Behind Blue Eyes", "A Quick One While He's Away", and "The Kids Are Alright", just to name a few.

There are no unreleased songs, and this is not necessarily a problem for me, but I know it might be for some, especially if they're already good fans of the band. Indeed, I want to emphasize that this collection adds nothing and takes nothing away from the band's discography. I strongly advise against those who have been following them for years to get this album, and I don't warmly recommend it even to those who aren't experts on the British quartet.

I bought this album a few years ago and, listening to it, I understood that the band had great tracks, but I couldn't see where that extra gear was that made them legendary. The band is not showcased at its full potential, so this is not "The Very Best Of The Who" 100%. Only thanks to some friends did I start to further deepen my knowledge of the band. Thanks again.

Obviously, anyway, it's the Who, and so the tracks collected here aren't rubbish! With this album, I discovered classics like "My Generation", "I Can See For Miles", "Pinball Wizard", "Baba O' Riley" (my other favorite), "Won't Get Fooled Again", and "Who Are You", the C.S.I. theme (for the uninitiated). So, I'll give this album three stars, a political six.

I'll conclude with a piece of advice. If you like Seventies-style rock n' roll but still know little or nothing about the Who, and if you're a fan of original compact discs, don't spend money on this collection, but go straight to buy "Who's Next" and "Quadrophenia". You'll be on the safe side.
