Formed by Adam Granduciel in 2005 and based in Philadelphia, The War on Drugs is an American indie rock band known for atmospheric, guitar- and synth-driven albums and long, immersive songs. Key albums include Wagonwheel Blues (2008), Slave Ambient (2011), Lost in the Dream (2014), A Deeper Understanding (2017) and I Don't Live Here Anymore (2021).

Adam Granduciel is the band's leader; Kurt Vile was an early member who later departed. The band released albums on Secretly Canadian and signed to Atlantic Records for A Deeper Understanding. A Deeper Understanding won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album (2018).
