The Van Pelt are an American indie rock band led by Chris Leo, best known for mid-90s albums Stealing From Our Favorite Thieves (1996) and Sultans of Sentiment (1997).

Debuted with Stealing From Our Favorite Thieves (1996) and followed with Sultans of Sentiment (1997). Chris Leo dissolved the group shortly after Sultans of Sentiment and later pursued The Lapse. Critics praise the band's emotional guitar work and Leo's vocals; they were not widely commercially successful despite critical admiration.
