THE REVIEW

Before starting, a series of questions: answer yes or no.

1. Do you like garage recorded on the fly?

2. Do you think the Cramps are the best band of the century?

3. Do you feel like vomiting when someone utters the word "prog"?

4. Are you allergic to songs longer than 3 minutes?

5. Do you have at least 10 vinyls from Crypt/In The Red/Sympathy For The Record at home?

6. Do you think "Nuggets" is too commercial?

7. Are you convinced that the Chrome Cranks played too clean?

8. Do you worship Link Wray?

9. Do you enjoy mocking good old Fedezan76 and his damned prog?

10. Can you answer affirmatively when asked the meaning of fuzz, farfisa, rickenbacker, DIY?

11. Do you also think that Iggy Pop was musically done after 1970?

Good, if you answered affirmatively to at least 6 questions, welcome to my club. It doesn’t have a name, so suggestions are welcome.

The Ultra Twist are (were) from Siena, they seem to have founded Bubca Records. They play dirty and fast garage punk. Go to Bubca’s website and download their material (a handful of EPs and 7"s) then, as they suggest (our music is free. So make your tape/cd!) create your nice CD-R with all their songs. It lasts a short 25 minutes, blasted in the car in the morning it's like a politically incorrect high-speed blowjob.

"No Beer No Fun" is their debut mini-album. The title track is Pussy Galore covering the Ramones, "Bubka" is a punk-surf instrumental tormented by waves of moog (very present in their tracks), "Bushists Mindset" will break your bones, motherfuckers. The climax arrives with the single "Ungabungabunga" (pioneers before Elio?), pop'n'roll delight submerged in a sea of foolery. Play it on New Year’s Eve and enjoy the effect it will have. Everything is obviously recorded with a strict lo-fi ethic.

Great band, the UT. It's a pity they broke up and never recorded a full-length. But maybe that's just as well, these are one-shot and done groups.

Treat yourself to a nice Christmas gift. Free.
