LA RECENSIONE

The Styles are a band from Como that needs to highlight everything and are completely self-referential. They call themselves Guido Style, Luke Style, and Steve Style (the Ramones looked better doing it). They wear t-shirts with their logo and band name; otherwise, people might not even recognize them.

“You love the styles” is the title of their first album, paradoxical that they tell us so themselves. “Buy this album” is the motto on their Myspace, and here we fall into the pathetic.

It takes me no more than ten minutes to write the lyrics and sometimes I just open the English dictionary to find some stock phrases to insert” are statements by the singer that can be found online, and it is truly strange how in an oversaturated music scene where quality can make the real difference among the masses, certain artists allow themselves to highlight and boast about their carelessness.

This album lasts 35 minutes for 12 songs, almost the exact average of the 3-minute radio format “because then the audience gets bored.” I would recommend it to the CERN researchers in Geneva because it is the closest thing to the absolute void of black holes. With peaks of creative mediocrity with titles like “Mr Bean Laden.” Hilarious stuff. No one's laughing.

The music is worthy of being in that MTV style that includes Tokio Hotel. The Styles communicate nothing. The Styles have no substance. The Styles sing in English, but it's not like they know it, they simply copy it by ear.
The writing's mediocrity is impressive (paraphrasing the presentation they attach to the CD) because the Styles, of the so-called scene, the reasoning and strategies, they couldn't care less, because that's exactly what they live off of, otherwise they wouldn't have so many references in their album to what is hype, Nme, Pete Doherty, and they revel in it.

The Styles claim to play guitar in pure Dave Grohl style, and to be honest, the sound is precisely that, but they are not the Foo Fighters. Because the latter writes songs like “The Pretender” while the former just are.
