If I had to, absurdly, choose a record to take with me to a hypothetical desert island, without any shadow of a doubt, the record would be "Fun House." No other record can make me instantly forget everything around me so quickly... A cathartic explosion of innate sonic power, a mystical frenzy of distortion and rhythm. Try listening to the record at a very high volume, and nothing will ever be the same again, recorded in 1970 and produced by Don Gallucci, the album contains within it all the best of the best of the best of Iggy & Co., their unapproachable and still today unmatched creative peak, every song is a classic, a bullet, a crazy bomb that will not spare your numbed sonic consciences. As someone on TV says: "everything else is boring," nothing truer than that. I had the enormous fortune of seeing them LIVE and in the front row!!! Despite their age (around 60 for the originals, less for the bassist replacing Dave Alexander R.I.P.), any member of the group can teach anyone what it means to be on stage and play, unlike the wagonloads of M&R*A that any musical television or radio today tries to peddle to us every blessed day as "the new promise of rock 'n' roll" and other absurdities.......go f*ck y*&rs&lv&s!!!!!!!!!!!! (Sorry, but when it needs to be said, it needs to be said.)

Let's get back to the record, it starts off skidding full force with "Down On The Street" a rock tank!!!! (Legend has it that it was written with an electric guitar and amplifier by Iggy Pop locked in his bedroom closet during one of his many arguments with his first wife!!!!!!) It continues at the same pace with "Loose", followed by the magnificent "T.V. Eye" – try to describe this track yourselves because I am at a loss for words... "Dirt" with its sinuous and seductive bass line is the "calmest" track of the entire album but no less beautiful than the others; it speeds straight towards hell with "1970" which, with the addition at the end of the saxophone by the great Steven Mackay (also present at the concert!!!!! Incredible!!!!) projects anyone in its path into a kaleidoscope of noise and white heat, it feels just like being in Detroit in some smoky club......The album concludes with the splendid "Fun House" and "L.A. Blues" confirming everything said.

I recommend listening to the album always in its entirety, only then will you fully enjoy all its power, its madness, and its uniqueness. I attended the "concert" (calling it that is an understatement...) by the Stooges in Melpignano, in the province of Lecce, if I remember correctly it was June 17, 2004, and the event was something organized by a well-known clothing brand, before the Stooges, Yumi Yumi and Mando Diao performed, which, with all due respect, were completely forgotten by the entire audience a few seconds after the entry on stage of the magnificent immense Stooges: long blonde hair, excellent shape, low-rise jeans, and black boots; microphone in hand: -"WE ARE THE FUCKING STOOGES!!!!" (Who will ever forget that???) Let the delirium begin!!!! (humping the amplifiers, flaunting "Biggy Pop," without standing still for a moment say anything to you???) ROCK'N'ROLL!!!!! With a capital R, not like that of Mt*. Enjoy the listening/delirium.

Cause I'm loose
I feel fine to be dancin', baby
I feel fine, I'm a shakin' leaf
I feel fine to be dancin', baby
Cause it's love, yeah I do believe
I'll stick it deep inside
I'll stick it deep inside
Cause I'm loose
And I'll stick it deep inside
And I'll stick it hey
Well I'm loose, well I'm loose
Well I'm loose

05   1970 (05:14)

Out of my mind on Saturday night
Nineteen-seventy rollin' in sight
Radio burnin' up above
Beautiful baby, feed my love

All night till I blow away
All night till I blow away
I feel alright, I feel alright

Baby, oh baby, burn my heart
Baby, oh baby, burn my heart
Fall apart baby, fall apart
Baby, oh baby, burn my heart

All night till I blow away
All night till I blow away
I feel alright, I feel alright

Feel alright, feel alright, feel alright

Out of my mind on Saturday night
Nineteen-seventy rollin' in sight
Radio burnin' up above
Beautiful baby, feed my love

All night till I blow away
All night till I blow away
I feel alright, I feel alright
I feel alright, I feel alright
I feel alright, I feel alright
I feel alright, I feel alright
I feel alright, I feel alright
I feel alright, I feel alright
I feel alright, I feel alright
Feel alright, feel alright
Feel alright, feel alright

Funhouse perfectly captures the peculiar characteristics of the early ’70s Stooges sound: dirty and raw sounds.

These 5 tracks alone would suffice to define it as a masterpiece.

"This is the pure essence of rock and roll: a primitive genius coming out of the cave with his club and shouting 'BUAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGHHHHHHHH'"

"The scream of TV eye my god! This is true liberation, this is true lust!"

By Rooftrampler92

"Fun House is the product of a few guys who want to separate themselves from moralism and conformism and want to show who they really are."

"'Down on the Street' is the first example of a nihilistic rock; the very title 'On the Street' is the spokesperson for a group of bastards raised on the street with distorted guitars and anger inside."

You may starve, but at least the heart must be fed... we are still human after all.

These gentlemen are the Stooges: take or leave, hate or love, ignore or listen.
